Inn, a 116-year-old property in Bernardsville, N.J.,\u00a0as well as management of its 20 guest rooms, marking his first foray into hotel management.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement is a partnership with the inn\u2019s owner, Hampshire Destination Properties LLC, a subsidiary of The Hampshire Companies.<\/p>\n<p>Burke and his company, David Burke Hospitality Management, will rework the foodservice of the main bar and lounge area, a banquet hall with seating capacity for 200 people, an outdoor patio that seats up to 40, and two restaurants that are still in their conceptualization stages: A 120-seat fine-dining restaurant and a more casual 100-seat space.<\/p>\n<p>The Bernards Inn, which is a AAA Four Diamond property and a recommended hotel in the Forbes Travel Guide, is slated to reopen this a century. It was a speakeasy during Prohibition, and one of the state\u2019s best restaurants. It\u2019s survived floods, a fire and two global pandemics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">But as any Bernardsville resident knows, it hasn\u2019t always stood strong. These days, it\u2019s overshadowed by modern, vibrant New Jersey eateries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">That&#8217;s about to change.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cIt\u2019s been very sleepy, quiet and boring,\u201d said celebrity chef David Burke, the owner of Orchard Park in East Brunswick, 1776 in Morristown and 17 other restaurants. \u201cBut (the Bernards Inn) has good bones, good history, and the community wants to see it back on its feet. I would love to get in there and bring it back to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In July, Burke entered a partnership with the owner of the Bernards Inn, Hampshire Destination Properties, LLC, a subsidiary of The Hampshire Companies. He\u2019s now renovating and transforming it to oversee its food and beverage operations.
